Wool Museum

The Wool Museum, part of the Portuguese Museum Network since 2002, has the mission of safeguarding the heritage associated with one of the oldest human industries, in a territory that, having Serra da Estrela as its headquarters and Covilhã as its historical centre, soon opened up to international contacts. 

By visiting it, we intend that, through the uniqueness, authenticity and exemplarity of the testimonies preserved in it, you will get to know better one of the oldest industries, wool, which began as a pure act of survival of the human species and has assumed, over time, a growing quality and artistic expression, which have accompanied the development of our societies until the present day.
